Well, a few months ago I started noticing something new in the dumpsters… a new water I hadn’t heard of: Topo Chico. And every day when I went to collect bottles there were more and more Topo Chico bottles. Wow I thought, people really like this water.
TRASH TRENDSETTER
According to Bloomberg Business, Topo Chico is a cult favorite in Texas and was acquired by Coca-Cola in 2017 for $220 million. It is a naturally fizzy mineral water that has been bottled from the same underground source since 1895 and takes its name from the Cerro del Topo Chico springs, which rises nearly 4,000 feet above the outskirts of Monterrey. According to legend, an Aztec princess was cured by its thermal waters and was a bathing destination for centuries.
Once Topo Chico was purchased, Coca-Cola boosted the water’s distribution in convenience stores by 25 percent within months - which explains why it felt like I was seeing it everywhere!

When I finally tasted it myself, I knew why I had been seeing so many empties: Yum!
Just as this article from states, Topo Chico is good for so many reasons -- it's extra sparkly, slightly salty, it makes a mean cocktail and it has a great retro look and feel.
And lucky for us, this delicious, extra fizzy drink is bottled in glass as opposed to aluminum. So in honor of my new favorite summer drink we are doing a limited run of Topo Chico jewelry!
